Our Focus
As an advisory board to the Joint Committee we have direct access to provide feedback to our three councils and highlight the future opportunities and solutions for business growth in Cheshire & Warrington.
With that in mind we have recognised Cheshire+Warrington strengths in specific areas and are focussing on the things that have the potential to make the biggest difference to the growth in Chehsire and Warrington.
These areas are:
1. Advancing Devolution: Engage proactively with the proposed devolution framework to ensure that Cheshire and Warrington secure meaningful powers and resources for better job, better transport and smarter investment. It is our belief that Devolution is the single biggest prize that will make a difference to Cheshire and Warrington’s ability to deliver significant growth in the next decade.
2. Enhancing Infrastructure and Connectivity: Focus on improving transport and digital infrastructure to support economic growth and integration. Prioritize projects that enhance regional connectivity and align with the strategic planning powers.
3. Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth in Key Sectors: Leverage the region’s strengths in energy, clean growth, life sciences, manufacturing, and logistics. Advise on initiatives that foster innovation, attract investment, and create high-value employment opportunities in these sectors.
4. Facilitating Skills Development and Employment Support: Address current and future workforce needs by collaborating with educational institutions and industry partners.
5. Advocate for Planning change: to enable increased growth across the sub region.
6. Investment is critical to Cheshire and Warrington’s growth—unlocking jobs, boosting productivity, and enabling innovation in key sectors like life sciences, clean energy, and digital. It drives Net Zero ambitions, supports regional renewal, and ensures we stay competitive nationally and globally.
